Period 79.          UNIT 12: WHAT DOES  YOUR FATHER DO ?

                                      Lesson 2  ( 1 , 2, 3 )

A.Objectives: By the end of the period,  pupils will be able to  ask and answer where someone works.

B. Language focus:

1. Lexical items: in a hospital, in a field, in a factory, in an office,

2. Sentence patterns : Where does a doctor work? A doctor works in a hospita

C. Teaching aids: Ps’ book, CD, poster

D.Procedures:

I. Warm -  up:  -Chatting

I. New lesson:

1.Look, listen and repeat

- Tell pupils that they are going to learn to ask and answer questions about daily routines.

- Have them look at the four pictures to understand the contexts in which the language is used. Ask them questions such as Who are they?/ Where are they?/ What are they saying?Check understanding.  

- Play the recording a few time for Ps to listen and repeat. Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking.

- Play the recording again for Ps to listen and say along.

2. Point and say 

-Tell Ps that they are going to practice asking  and answering about daily routines. .

- Draw their attention to the pictures to understand how the language is used in different contexts. Ask Ps to look at the first two pictures. Tell them that they are going to practice saying  and responding to

-Ask Ps to work in pairs, pointing to the characters speaking.

- Call on a few pairs to act out in front of the class. Check as a class and correct pronunciation, if necessary.

3. Let’s talk

-Tell Ps that they are going to practice asking and anwering about

 What does your father/ mother/ sister do?0r : Where does he/ she work?

-Do the task  with P as a model.

-Have Ps work in pairs, monitor if necessary.

-Call on a few pairs to role play if front of the class.

 A.Objectives: By the end of the period,  pupils will be able to  ask and answer questions about place to work.

B. Language focus: Revision

C. Teaching aids:  Ps’ book, CD, headphone

D. Procedures:

I. Warm up:

Chatting: What time do you get up/have breakfast/ go to bed?

II. New lesson:

1. Listen and number.

Tell ps that they are going to listen to 4 dialogues about what the four dialogues and number the  pics.

- Focus their attention on the pics and ask them to identify each activities.

 -  Play the recording more than one, if necessary. Ask ps to listen and number the pics. Tell them that they should focus on the order of the dialogues as they hear them. Get ps to swap their answers before checking.

2. Look and write .

  • Tell ps that they are going to  read the dialogues and fill the gaps
  • Ask them to look at the four pictures to identify what character in each picture can/ can not.
  • Set a time limit for Ps to do the task, help if necessary.
  • Checking: read aloud the sentences to reinforce.

  •           in a field

3. Lets play

  • Tell ps that they are going to  play the game  pelmanism.
  • Guide the pupils play.

 Period 81            UNIT 12 :   WHAT DOES  YOUR FATHER DO ?

A.Objectives: By the end of the period, Ps will be able to pronounce correctly the sound of the letters “ ie” in field, piece, ‘ea” in  teacher , reading.

B. Language focus:

Phonics:         ie        field, piece

ea       teacher, reading

C. Teaching aids:  Ps’ book, CD.

D. Procedures:

I. Warm up: 

  Sing the song This is the way.

II. New lesson:

1. Listen and repeat

- Tell ps that they are going to practice saying the sounds of the letters “ ie” in field, piece, ‘ea” in  teacher , reading.

- Play the recording and ask ps to repeat a few times.  Play the recording more than one. If necessary, and let ps say the words and the sentences,

- Do choral and individual repetition until they feel confident.

- Get some ps to perform in front of the class. Check  and correct

2. Listen  and circle. Then   say  sentences with circled words.

  • Tell ps that they are going to listen to the recording and  circle   the correct words then read the sentences aloud.
  • Introduce the activity and give a few seconds for ps to read the text.
  • Play the recording for ps to listen and number the pictures. Then set a time limit for ps to write the answer and check their answer in pairs.
  • Call a few ps to read aloud the answer in front of you.

3. Lets chant

  • Tell ps that they are going to  say the chant.
  • Have them to read the chant and check comprehension.
  • Then play the recording for them to repeat the line twice.

Divide the class into 2 groups: one chant the qs and the other chant the answers. Swap the role after one round. Remind ps to pronounce the sounds“ oo” in school.

  • Call 2 small groups of ps to the font of the class to say the chant. The rest of the class claps a long to the rhythm.

Period 82         UNIT12 :   WHAT DOES  YOUR FATHER DO ?

                                       Lesson 3( 4, 5, 6)

 A.Objectives: By the end of the lesson, Ps will be able to get futher practice about the jobs through reading and writing.

B. Language focus: Revision

C. Teaching aids:  book, CD.

D. Procedures

I.Warm up: Read the chant

II. New lesson

1. Read and complete.

  • Introduces the topic you are going to read the questions to get the information in order to complete the answers.

- Ss read the sentences individually and check their prediction. Ss do the task (match the sentence with a appropriate picture.)

- Monitor the activity and offer help when necessary

- Have Ss trade the answers in pairs for correction

- Call on some Ss to report their answers. Others listen and comment.

- Make a few questions to check Ss comprehension of the sentences.

 Have the whole class  read each sentence in chorus to reinforce their pronunciation

Answers:   father :a  teacher – LHP primary school  

                 Mother: a nurse-  Thanh Nhan hospital

                Brother: a worker-  a car factory worker

2. Write about the jobs of your family members and where they work.

- Explains the situation and how to do the exercise.

- Ask students to look the photo of My family.  And read the paragraph in the book and fill the suitable words to complete the dialogue.

 - Work individually to do the exercise then practice in front of the whole class. The rest listen to and give the remark.  

- Correct the pronunciation.

- Interview two classmates about their parents job. Tell the classmates about it
